Woman Identified After Body Found by Construction Crews in Backyard

Authorities released the name of a 76-year-old woman whose body was found in the back yard of her Arcadia home, triggering a homicide investigation.

Chyong Jen Tsai's body was discovered Tuesday morning by a construction crew working at the home in the 300 block of East Forest Avenue, and police arrived at the scene around 7 a.m. and called in sheriff's homicide detectives to assist in the investigation.

Investigators determined that the victim's SUV -- a white 2005 Lexus RX 300, California license plate 5LOG473 -- was missing and sought the public's help in locating it.

Investigators have not commented on the cause of death, but sheriff's Sgt. Richard Biddle said evidence found in the yard and inside the house "clearly leads us to believe that she was murdered.''

Her dog was found unharmed inside the home, Biddle said.

Anyone who spots the SUV or has other information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
