Father Dead, Daughter-in-Law Wounded in Shooting After Argument

A argument between a 56-year-old man and his 33-year-old daughter-in-law led to his fatal shooting and her being critically wounded Thursday in a vehicle in the Chantry Flats area of Angeles National Forest.

The woman drove the vehicle to the 300 block of North Santa Anita Avenue in Arcadia, where she was able to get cellphone reception and called police, according to Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

The man was shot in the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was shot in the lower body and taken to a hospital, Navarro- Suarez said.

The woman was expected to survive, according Navarro-Suarez, who said the shooting occurred just after 2 p.m.
