Armed Robber in A Devil Mask Strikes Twice

Ventura police believe the same man brandished a gun at two separate victims near Ventura College this week.

An armed robber wearing a "red devil" mask struck twice in one night in Ventura, and police are asking for the public’s help in apprehending him.

Around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, the robber approached a man in a Ventura College parking lot, brandished a handgun and demanded his belongings. The victim handed them over and the suspect, described as a man in his 30s, fled on foot.

The robber was wearing a light-colored T-shirt and jeans.

Campus police placed the school on lockdown while they searched for the man.

While the search was on-going, a second man was robbed just before 9 p.m. by an armed man in a devil mask at a nearby Chase Bank at 310 S. Wells Road. The victim was forced to withdraw cash from the ATM and hand it over to the robber, who again fled on foot.

Police believe the same person committed both robberies.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ventura Police Department at 805-339-4309.
