A suspect was gunned down as he allegedly charged towards deputies while holding a gun in Compton Wednesday.
He was wounded as he ran on at Long Beach and Compton boulevards just before 6.pm. after the lawmen heard shots being fired in the area, a Los Angeles Sheriff's Department spokesman said.
After he was shot the man was taken to the hospital. The suspect's name and condition have not been released.
Detectives said it does not appear the suspect fired at the deputies, and that a gun was recovered at the scene.
Witnesses claimed a second suspect was involved, however there was no word from officials on whether anyone had been arrested.
