Cars Go Up in Flames After Mechanical Issue in Brea Carport: Police

Two cars went up in flames in a Brea carport early Wednesday morning after a "mechanical" issue with one of the cars, investigators said.

The fire was reported around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of South Brea Boulevard, according to the Brea Police Department.

Firefighters responded and found one vehicle fully engulfed in flames and another vehicle burned, police said.

Crews put out the blaze within 15 minutes, firefighters said.

No other property was damaged and no injuries were reported.

Officials initially suspected the blaze was the result of arson, but later revealed that there was a mechanical problem.
