Autopsy Pending for Suspicious Death of 4-Year-Old Boy

An LAPD detective told reporters the boy's body showed evidence of physical trauma. The parents are said to be cooperating with investigators.

An autopsy was pending Friday on a 4-year-old boy who died after being brought to County-USC Medical Center and whose death was classified as suspicious by authorities.

Justin Sontay-Oxlaj died at the hospital after being brought there about 3 a.m. Thursday from a residence in the 4600 block of Honduras Street in the southeast Los Angeles area, according to the coroner's office and the Los Angeles Police Department.

An LAPD detective told reporters the boy's body showed evidence of physical trauma and investigators had "some questions about the injuries.''

LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman, a department spokeswoman, would say only that the death was preliminarily classified as having occurred under "suspicious circumstances.''

The boy's parents were at the hospital with their son, and were said to be cooperating with investigators.
