Autopsy Underway for Special-Needs Student Found Dead on Whittier School Bus

The family has established a GoFundMe account to help with funeral costs

An autopsy is underway for a 19-year-old student who was found dead on a school bus in Whittier on Friday.

Hun-Joon Lee, also known as Paul to family and friends, never returned from school after he was picked up by his school bus.

Police found Lee lying in the aisle near the front of the bus parked in a Whittier school district parking lot. He was declared dead - less than two weeks before his 20th birthday - after life-saving efforts failed.

Lee's family believes the teen was on the bus since that morning, when temperatures soared in the 90s.

The family has established a GoFundMe account to help with funeral costs. Anyone wishing to donate can do so here.

Police are calling the death suspicious, but they don't know yet how he died.
