Bear on the Run in San Gabriel Valley Neighborhood

A large bear moseyed into a neighborhood in the San Gabriel Valley region of Los Angeles County before swimming in a pool, snacking on fruit, and facing off with a brave dog Tuesday.

The bear was spotted in the 2100 block of Gardi Street in the Bradbury area around 3 p.m.

The homeower said the bear entered her home by breaking the screen of an open window leading to her kitchen. It snacked on some avocados before the homeowner saw the bear and screamed, causing it to escape the same way it came in.

The bear had also at one point chased a deer.

The bear eventually camped out under a tree in the 300 block of Mount Olive as spectators snapped photos.

A homeowner said the bear, who is red-tagged, is always roaming around the area and walks in and around his property.

NBC4 has reached out to California Fish and Wildlife and local law enforcement, and was awaiting comment.
