A former Southern California sheriff's deputy who admitted coercing female jail inmates into sex has been sentenced to 35 years to life in prison.
The San Bernardino Sun reports Monday that Brian Derryberry pleaded guilty this month to a series of charges including sexual battery and sexual penetration by force or duress.
Prosecutors said Derryberry forced himself on inmates at the Morongo Basin Station jail.
He was fired from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department shortly after his arrest in 2016.
The newspaper says Derryberry was ordered to surrender Feb. 1 to begin serving his sentence.
