Lanes on both sides of the 57 Freeway in Fullerton are expected to remain closed until about midday due to a fiery big rig crash.
The truck, carrying empty plastic bottles, slammed into a center divider around 3:30 a.m. near Bastanchury Road. The driver was pulled out of the wreckage in critical condition with burn injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.
All northbound lanes of the 57 Freeway were closed and all but the last lane of the southbound 57 Freeway remained open. Traffic was diverted at Yorba Linda Boulevard.
The freeway is expected to reopen at about 2 p.m.
Details on what led up to the crash were not immediately available. A witness said the truck appeared to swerve to the left before striking the barrier.
