Bloodhounds Called Off In Santa Ana Homicide Investigation

An investigation continued Friday into the homicide of a woman whose body was found in a Santa Ana home she had recently begun renting. A young child, about 4 years of age, was discovered unharmed in another part of the house.

Police said the victim's son, who appeared to be in his 20s, found his mother's body when he arrived at the home at 2792 N. Lowell Lane around 2:10 p.m. Thursday.

Santa Ana police Cpl. Jose Gonzalez said bloodhounds were brought in for the search but were later called off when no scents were detected.

"It appears everything happened inside the house," Gonzales told the
Orange County Register. "There are just a select few who know what occurred."

Gonzales would not confirm reports that the woman was stabbed during a home-
invasion robbery.

The child and the victim's son were interviewed by detectives at the
Santa Ana Police Department. Gonzales did not explain the relationship between the woman and the child.

Neighbors told the newspaper that the victim was in her 40s and began
renting the home about a month ago.

Anyone with information on the homicide was asked to call the Santa Ana
Police Department at 714-245-8390.
