A man's body was found Wednesday in the back yard of a home in the Harbor Gateway area of Los Angeles, and a woman was taken into custody in connection with the death, which police said was being investigated as a homicide.
The body was discovered about 9:50 a.m. in the 800 block of West 173rd Street, between Vermont Avenue and the Harbor (110) Freeway, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. Information was not immediately available on the victim's identity or cause of death.
A woman who was inside a residence near where the body was discovered was taken into custody following a standoff with police.
Investigators were in the process of booking her for murder, according to Officer Jeff Lee of the LAPD's Media Relations Section.
