Boy in Critical Condition After Hit-And-Run Collision in Santa Ana

A boy remains in critical condition Sunday, a day after he was struck by a driver in a hit-and-run collision in Santa Ana, authorities said.

Police found the boy lying in the northbound lanes of Fairview Street, just south of Civic Center Drive, at about 8:09 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

Witnesses described the vehicle as small and black, police said. The driver failed to stop and help the boy, fleeing the scene.

The boy was treated by paramedics before being taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

A black BMW 300 series made between 2001 and 2006 car may have been involved in the collision, police said, based on evidence discovered at the scene.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has additional information about the BMW and driver to call 714-245-8214.
