Brea Resident Fights Back Against Attempted Robber Trying to Take Family Heirloom

A brave Brea resident confronted an intruder who attempted to steal a family heirloom from his residence Thursday.

The robber attempted to steal a gun from the victim's garage, an item passed down to the victim from his grandfather, according to officials.

Armed with the family heirloom, the attempted robber allegedly tried to grab the vicitm by the wrists in an effort to prevent him from retreiving his property.

The victim was able to retrieve the gun and the attempted thief fled the scene.

"It probably wasn't the brightest idea but in hindsight, I didn't have a better plan, so I jumped out the car and confronted the guy," the victim said.

Surveillance footage from a nearby gas station captured the would-be-robber fleeing the scene in a Honda Civic.

The intruder has tattoos on his neck and hands, according to the vicitm.
