A body was found Wednesday morning in a burned vehicle in a parking lot behind a Westminster business.
Officers were called about 3 a.m. to the rear parking lot of 6422 Industry Way in the northern Orange County community by Orange County Fire Authority crews who had responded to the scene about 20 minutes earlier for a car fire, according to a statement from the Westminster Police Department.
While extinguishing the fire, a body was found in the car, police said. Initial reports indicated the body was in the trunk, but police later said the remains were in the rear of the car. It was later determined that the car was reported stolen in Garden Grove.
The owner told police he parked the car around 5 p.m., went to bed and awoke the next morning to find it missing.
