New research shows consumers are clipping coupons out of newspapers and other paper mailings rather than finding them online, according to a CreditCards.com survey.
Sixty-three percent of U.S. credit and debit cardholders say they’re using paper coupons. Even 18- to 24-year-olds use paper coupons more than twice as much as any other method.
"It's just the way it's been done for decades," said Matt Schulz, senior industry analyst at CreditCards.com. "It can be a hard habit to break over time."
More banks and retailers are diving into integrating smart phones into the shopping experience.
That means that Americans — 85 percent of whom use a coupon at least occasionally — are eventually expected to shift away from paper coupon use.
