Remember When? Gas in Wichita, Kansas, Down to $2.26 a Gallon

The Lundberg Survey of 5,000 gasoline stations nationwide shows a dramatic drop in the past two weeks -- nearly 53 cents a gallon.

The average nationwide cost for unleaded is $2.78 a gallon, with premium at $3.05.

Gas was cheapest in Wichita, Kansas, where motorists pay $2.26 a gallon for regular. The most expensive gas is in Anchorage, Alaska, at $3.50.

In California, the average is $3.18, down 32 cents from two weeks ago. San Francisco has the highest average price at $3.37 for a gallon of regular. Stockton is the least expensive at $2.97.
