Crews Battle 350-Acre Brush Fire in Mentone Area

More than 200 firefighters were battling a brush fire that swiftly grew to hundreds of acres in San Bernardino County on Friday afternoon.

The wildfire dubbed the Bridge Fire broke out about 3;30 p.m. in the Mentone area and spread to 350 acres by 5 p.m., officials with the San Bernardino National Forest said. There was no containment and no structures threatened.

Highway 38 was closed half a mile south of Iron Bridge.
