A report by SafeWise released the 50 safest cities in California for 2019 based on the number of reported violent and property crimes.

Despite Thousand Oaks facing a mass shooting that killed 12 people at the Borderline Bar & Grill, and a state of emergency due to wildfires in 2018, the city still made the list based on violent and property crime below state and national averages in 2017.

The city that tops the list is Danville, located in the San Ramon Valley with only 0.35 per 1,000 in violent crime rate. Los Angeles landed at the end of list on spot 222 with a 7.61 per 1,000 in violent crime rate.

The rankings of the cities were based on information the cities reported through the FBI Uniform Crime Data in 2017. The report looked into the numbers of aggravated assault, burglary, murder, motor vehicle theft and robbery.

The top ten safest cities in California include Danville, Irvine, Rancho Santa Margarita, Yorba Linda, Murrieta, San Ramon, Rancho Palos Verdes, Folsom, Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo.

Cities that are not listed on the report could be due to incomplete UCR data or reports not submitted.
