Marin County Fire Crews Rescue Pit Bull That Fell Off 200-Foot Cliff

Fire crews in Marin County jumped into action Sunday afternoon to rescue a 7-month-old pit bull that fell off a cliff.

The accident happened a few miles north of Rodeo Beach. The dog fell more than 200 feet onto a pile of rocks.

And at first, crews did not think the dog survived the fall.

"Initially had a helicopter from the CHP out here, got word that the dog was not moving at the time and appeared to be deceased," Kai Pasquale of the Southern Marin Fire District said. "We set up a rope evolution from the top here to confirm the status of the dog and see if we could affect a rescue."

After the dog was rescued, she was taken to the local humane society to be treated.
