Justin Rogers, a corporal with a Bay area police department, was trying to get through the security line Saturday on his way home from a Hawaiian vacation when he noticed a TSA agent being attacked by a woman.

Rogers, wearing only socks because he had removed his shoes to get through the TSA security line, hurdled the glass barrier and took down the attacker. After the take-down, Rogers -- a member of the Pinole Police Department -- waved to the onlookers to signal the situation was under control.

The encounter was captured on security camera video.

The 39-year-old is now speaking humbly about his actions.

"Police officer or not, the woman was being assaulted," he said. "She was defenseless. Had her arms up, trying to defend herself and somebody really needed to help her, and luckily I was close enough to be able to help."

As for the attacker, authorities said she was charged with assault. The TSA agent suffered minor bruising, and the TSA issued a statement expressing the agency's gratitude toward Rogers.
