Passenger Runs From Plane, Delays Flights at Lindbergh Field

Incident occured just after 8 a.m. Sunday

Flights were briefly delayed at the San Diego International Airport Sunday after a passenger got off a flight just before take-off, according to airport officials.

The incident happened at around 8:20 a.m. on an American Airlines flight bound for New York, officials said.

A passenger on the flight reportedly got off the plane in an unauthorized manner just before take-off and then ran from the plane.

After the passenger left, the remaining passengers were taken off the plane and it was swept for security purposes.

After an unknown period of time the plane was cleared of any security risks.

The incident caused a brief delay for flights at the airport.

The status of the passenger who left the flight was not immediately known.

The Harbor police department was investigating incident.
