California Company Recalls Salads, Wraps Linked to E. Coli Outbreak

Federal inspectors say 26 people have been diagnosed with the same E. coli infection

A Northern California company is recalling more than 180,000 pounds of ready-to-eat salads and wraps after some of its products were linked to cases of E. coli infection, the USDA said Sunday.

Glass Onion Catering, a company based in Richmond, is recalling products distributed to Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington.

The USDA said 26 people who began feeling ill between late September and late October were diagnosed with the same E. coli infection, and 15 of them reported eating ready-to-eat salads that were traced back to Glass Onion Catering.

The products were produced between Sept 23. and Nov. 6. They included prepackaged salads and sandwich wraps with fully cooked chicken and ham.

Among the items possibly contaminated were "Trader Joe's Field Fresh Chopped Salad with Grilled Chicken" and "Trader Jose's  Mexicali Salad with Chili Lime Chicken," the USDA said.

A list of recalled products can be found on the USDA website.
