San Francisco May Be Able to Sell Cannabis at Public Events: Report

Some of the biggest events in San Francisco may be able to sell cannabis through a city permit, just in time for the annual 4/20 event at Golden Gate Park, the San Francisco Examiner reported Tuesday.

The idea is just a proposal at this point, but there could be a permit process put in place by the time mid-April rolls around.

Assembly Bill 2020 allows cities in the state to issue cannabis permits for temporary events with a state license and local license.

Initially, permits would go to events that have been held on a regular basis, received city permits, and had significant amounts of unregulated cannabis, so 4/20 at Hippie Hill falls in this category.

A permit would be issued by the Office of Cannabis and require city agency approval for the area where the event is taking place.

Permits could range from $500 for 500 people attending to as much as $3,000 for events with more than 2,500 people.
