The forward rate of spread has been stopped in a vegetation fire burning in a canyon near the 600 block of Serrano Lane, according to the Chula Vista Fire Department. A helicopter is also flying over the fire to get updates.
The canyon is located north of the Costco on east H Street in the Rancho Del Rey neighborhood, east of Interstate 805.
The fire started around 9:18 a.m. and jumped S. Rancho Del Rey Parkway at Norella Street near Explorer Park.
It is unclear how large the fire is, but there are homes on either side of the canyon.
There are no evacuations at this time.
San Diego Fire-Rescue, San Miguel Fire and the National City Fire Department have also responded.
