Classes Canceled After San Bernardino Valley College Receives ‘Bomb Threat'

After a bomb threat was called into San Bernardino Valley College Monday afternoon during finals week, campus police closed the college and said it would not reopen Tuesday.

"The San Bernardino Valley College campus will be closed tomorrow, December 15, pending investigation," campus officials tweeted late Monday.

The San Bernardino Valley College campus' Twitter account first warned students to stay away from campus at 5:30 p.m. due to a threat.

The San Bernardino Police Department said the bomb threat was treated as a hoax, and cleared the scene. Lt. David Green also said campus would be reopening around 6 p.m.

Campus police however, said that the threat was "credible," and students would not be allowed back on campus.

District police officers were clearing buildings, and the investigation was ongoing.

"Statements regarding 'hoax' and 'reopening of the campus' from the San Bernardino police should not be considered the current status of the investigation," Alisa Moore, spokesperson for the district, said in a statement. "The investigation of the threat has not concluded that the threat has been eliminated."
