A man was hospitalized in critical condition after falling from a cliff in Newport Beach.
The man fell about at Pirate's Cove, a small beach with a steep staircase and rocky cliffs. The man was transported by rescuers in a boat to shore.
He likely lost his footing on the rocks and fell about 30 to 40 feet, firefighters said.
The man's wife called 911 to report the fall.
