Costa Mesa Assistant Wrestling Coach Arrested for Allegedly Sending Inappropriate Photos to Female Student

Samuel Galvez was booked on suspicion of sending harmful matter with the intent to seduce a minor.

An Estancia High School assistant wrestling coach, also a security guard at the school, was arrested Thursday for allegedly sending lewd photos of himself to a student via social media, police said.

Samuel Galvez, 30, of Orange, was booked on suspicion of sending harmful matter with the intent to seduce a minor, according to Roxi Fyad of the Costa Mesa Police Department.

Police were called at 9:10 a.m. to the school regarding allegations that Galvez had sent photographs of his genitalia to a female student of the school, Fyad said.

Galvez was being held in the Costa Mesa jail on $30,000 bail.

Annette Franco, a spokeswoman for the Newport-Mesa Unified School District, released the following statement:

"We take all allegations seriously and we act swiftly to report and resolve concerns on our campus. We continue to fully cooperate with the Costa Mesa Police Department in the ongoing investigation of this matter. The well-being of our students is a top priority," Franco said. "We are working to support students, families and staff with counseling services available to those that may be affected."
