Crash into Pole Leaves One Dead in South El Monte

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man whose car crashed into a light pole was killed on Saturday near the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area near South El Monte, authorities said.

The silver Honda sedan crashed into a pole on southbound Rosemead Boulevard at 3:43 p.m. Saturday near the on-ramp to the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway, California Highway Patrol Officer Stephan Brandt said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Brandt said.

The CHP issued an advisory, warning that southbound Rosemead Boulevard traffic would be affected in the area due to the wreckage and downed pole, he said.
