A dentist with an office in San Juan Capistrano was under arrest Thursday on suspicion of molesting female patients.
Ghassan Mehtar, 45, who has an office at 32281 Camino Capistrano, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexual battery, said Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
A 26-year-old woman reported Mehtar inappropriately touched her and also pulled up part of her clothing so he could see her breasts as she sat in a dentist chair, he said. She was not under anesthesia.
An investigation by the sheriff's sex crime unit determined that other female patients had complained to office staff about his behavior but had not gone to authorities.
The females were mostly Latinas who spoke little English, he said.
Mehtar was jailed on $25,000 bail.
