A woman was hospitalized in grave condition early Wednesday morning after she was attacked with a hammer in East Los Angeles, authorities said.
The assault was reported around 2:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of Whiteside Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The woman suffered head trauma and was transported to a hospital in grave condition.
Police arrested a man in connection with attack.
Police said deputies suffered minor injuries while responding to the scene.
The relationship between the woman and her attacker was not immediately clear.
