Dozens of residents were evacuated from an apartment complex in Whittier early Wednesday due to a suspicious carport fire.
Several vehicles were destroyed or damaged in the blaze in the 6300 block of Milton Avenue, which started at around 2:15 a.m, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman said.
Scores of people had to leave the three story building while the fire was extinguished. It took 18 minutes to put out and was finally knocked down at 2:38 a.m.
Arson investigators are currently investigating the blaze, which an LACFD spokesman described as "suspicious."
