Driver Charged With Killing Scooter Rider in Hollywood

A Utah man has been charged with murder for allegedly hitting and killing a man on an electric scooter in Hollywood.

Jared Anderson of Enoch was charged Tuesday in connection with Saturday's accident. Prosecutors allege that Anderson was drunk when his pickup truck failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck a rental scooter in a crosswalk on Vine Street.

Authorities say 31-year-old Evan Faram of Dallas was hit and then run over as the pickup driver fled police. He died at a hospital. Anderson was arrested after crashing the truck. Anderson has a previous DUI conviction from Utah.

He could face up to 15 years to life if convicted of murder, vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run driving and other charges. It's unclear whether he has an attorney.
