Driver Crashes Into Parked Cars In Pursuit Through West LA

A man attempting to break into vehicles early Wednesday morning led police on a pursuit through West Los Angeles and crashed into three parked cars at three different locations before he was taken into custody.

Officers approached two men who appeared to be breaking into vehicles around 3:30 a.m. in the area of Barrington Avenue and Pico Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department West Los Angeles Division.

The men ran away, and one of them jumped into a vehicle, failing to stop for police and crashed into the railroad crossing arms of the Metro Gold Line at Barrington, authorities said.

The driver crashed into three parked cars at three different locations before his car became disabled and stopped at Manning Avenue and National Boulevard, police said.

Officers fired bean bags into the driver's car in an attempt to get him out before he got out of the car and was taken into custody, authorities said.

No injuries were reported.

The other man spotted in the car break-ins was still at large.
