Minivan Driver Leads Cross-County Pursuit

Police believed the Chevrolet Astrovan was stolen.

The driver of a stolen minivan led officers on a pursuit in Los Angeles Friday night.

The chase began near Seventh Street and Central Avenue in Los Angeles before 10 p.m. after LAPD officers found out the license plates on the Astrovan did not belong to that vehicle.

The driver was traveling at about 75 to 80 miles per hour, followed by several police cars.

It ended nearly an hour later in Riverside County after officers used a spike strip to disable the van. The driver surrendered on the westbound 91 Freeway.

No injuries were reported.
