Suspected DUI Driver Crashes into Hacienda Heights Church Gathering

The California Highway Patrol said that the driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

A suspected DUI driver crashed a car into an after-church gathering in Hacienda Heights Sunday afternoon, and three victims were injured and transported to local hospitals.

LA County Sheriff's responded to a call about a traffic collision involving a structure on the 14900 block of Clark Avenue in Hacienda Heights at approximately 3:15 p.m.

Witnesses told NBC4 that church services had concluded at approximately 3 p.m., and worshipers were walking over and congregating at the designated area when the vehicle crashed into the building.

A man pushed kids and a woman out of the way of the charging vehicle and took the force of the vehicle, one witness said.

A female pastor was also hit by the vehicle and transported. A second woman was inside the building by the doorway, where the car made contact with the structure.

In all, three chuch members were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

The California Highway Patrol said that the driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of DUI, and th CHP said the suspect was also transported for injuries sustained in the crash.

The church, which owns the damaged building, has created a GoFundMe page for repairs.
