Early Morning Blaze Leads to Discovery of Drug Lab in Shadow Hills

An early morning residential fire in the foothills of the San Fernando Valley led to the discovery of a drug lab, police said.

Firefighters were called about 12:30 a.m. Thursday to the 9800 block of Sunland Boulevard in Shadow Hills, where a detached garage broke out in flames, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said. The blaze was knocked down in about 20 minutes.

Officials with the Los Angeles Police Department said the fire had been sparked by a drug lab. No injuries were reported and no arrests had been made as of late Thursday morning.

The fire and drug lab remained under investigation.
