3.4-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Gardena Area

A 3.4-magnitude earthquake that struck the Gardena area Saturday night was felt across Los Angeles, but no injuries or damages were reported.

The temblor struck at 9:54 p.m. at a depth of 7.7 miles, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department briefly went into "earthquake mode," with crews from every station fanning out across the city to check for damage.

Seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones said the tremor was the fifth magnitude 3 or greater to strike near the Newport-Inglewood fault in the last two months.
