Senior Couple Injured During Hot Prowl Turned Robbery in Arcadia

A senior couple was injured after a hot prowl turned into a home robbery late Tuesday night, police said.

Police responded around 10:55 p.m. to a report about a possible robbery in the 500 block of W. Live Oak Avenue, according to the Arcadia Police Department.

Three men entered the home of a couple, both in their 70s, as the two slept, police said.

"Unfortunately this family decided to leave their rear door unlocked. Likely the suspects attempted to just burglarize it and then came across the victims while they were sleeping," Lieutenant Colleen Flores said.

When the three men found the homeowners asleep in their beds, they demanded cash and jewelry, police said.

The men fled, getting away with money and some jewelry, according to the family.

Jun Chang, the couple's son, said his parents are still in shock.

"This is the very first time. We've been here over 30 years," he said.

Both victims reported suffering minor injuries during the home invasion but neither required medical attention. The victims said they did not see a weapon, police said.

Anyone with information about the home invasion was asked to call the Arcadia Police Department at (626) 574-5151.
