Event Honoring Jonathan Gold to be Held on Pico Boulevard

As more tributes to legendary food critic Jonathan Gold pour out across Los Angeles, one of his favorite spots in the city will host a celebration of his life on Monday. Brad Metzger Restaurant Solutions will hold an event called "Together with Tacos on Pico" on the iconic LA street Monday.

The event will be held from 4-6 p.m. Monday with Trejo's Tacos providing free tacos to the first 200 attendees.

"It's only fitting that his beloved Pico Boulevard gives some love back to Mr. Gold," the restaurant hiring firm said in a statement.

In a 1998 column for LA Weekly, Gold described the year he spent as a young man eating his way along every restaurant on Pico, which runs from downtown LA to Santa Monica.

He described the area as "left alone like old lawn furniture moldering away in the side yard of a suburban house" compared to the rest of LA, waxing poetic about the many diverse food choices on the street.

Gold died on July 21 after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, LA Times editor Laurie Ochoa, and their two children.

Brad Metzger Restaurant Solutions encouraged others to donate to a GoFundMe campaign to help the Gold-Ochoa family with expenses.
