Evil Spirits: Man in Devil Mask Robs Liquor Store

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. -- A shotgun-toting man wearing a Halloween devil's mask robbed a liquor store in Huntington Beach early Friday, fleeing with roughly $2,000, police said.

The holdup occurred around midnight at Mike's Liquor, at 4911 Warner Ave., Huntington Beach police Lt. Steve Bushhousen told an On Scene Video camera crew.

The bandit -- white gloves on his hands, a horned devil's mask over his face -- entered the store carrying a sawed-off shotgun, went to the front counter and demanded money from the store's owner, Bushhousen said.

The owner complied, drawing money from the register, and the gunman drove off in a dark newer model American car with roughly $2,000 in cash, he said. No one was hurt.

The robber was described as white, 6 feet tall, about 200 pounds, with a ponytail. He was last seen wearing a light blue shirt and tan pants, Bushhousen said.

Anyone with information on the robbery was asked to call Huntington Beach police at (714) 960-8811.
