Sheriff's detectives announced the arrest Sunday of a man accused of killing a woman who came to his Lancaster home to fix an appliance.
The suspect, 30-year-old William Hughes, told authorities he found the victim, 36-year-old Lyndi Fisher of Lancaster, dead in a garage Friday night at Hughes home. Hughes told investigators Fisher was injured while repairing an appliance, according to the sheriff's department.
Fisher's death was reported at 11:23 p.m. Friday in the 43200 block of Doverwood Court, sheriff's Sgt. Aura Sierra said.
Detectives arrested Hughes at the family-owned residence, in which he was the only occupant, Deputy Kimberly Alexander said.
Deputies were dispatched to a medical emergency at the home on Doverwood Court, and were allegedly told by Hughes that Fisher had been injured while fixing some sort of appliance, the Sheriff's Information Bureau reported.
Hughes allegedly told deputies he had briefly left his home, and when he returned he saw her unresponsive on the floor.
Fisher was pronounced dead at the scene, Sierra said. An autopsy was scheduled to to be performed Sunday.

Hughes was booked and was being held on $2 million bail, Alexander said.
