Four spot fires along state Route 74 west of Perris burned roughly an acre Friday before crews got them under control.
The non-injury blazes were reported about 1:40 p.m. over a quarter-mile space between Ellis Avenue and Navajo Road, in the unincorporated community of Good Hope, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Multiple engine crews were sent to the area and encountered flames burning on ranch property, but not immediately threatening any homes or other structures.
The California Highway Patrol closed Highway 74 going both east- and westbound in the area for public safety.
The spot blazes were contained by 2 p.m., and the highway was re-opened.
Witnesses said a downed power line may have sparked the fires, but there was no confirmation.
Crews were expected to finish mopping up by 4 p.m.
