3 Injured in Fire at Westlake Senior Living Facility

The fire was showing from the fourth floor of the 15-story building, fire officials said.

Three people were injured in a fire at a senior living center in Westlake on Monday evening.

Approximately 150 firefighters arrived at the 15-story elderly facility around 8:45 p.m. Monday. The fire was delcared a knockdown at 9:34 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department, despite multiple challenges including the lack of sprinklers in the building and self-closing doors to assist in containing the fire.

Fire was showing from the fourth floor when crews arrived.

Three residents required treatment at hospitals -- a 75-year-old man, a 75-year-old woman and an 80-year-old woman -- two of whom were critically burned and one suffered smoke inhalation, Scott said.

No firefighters were injured.

Some residents above the fire were asked to shelter in place and others were asked to evacuate the high-rise building.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
