Firefighters Knockdown Three-Alarm Brush Fire in Riverside Amid Warm and Windy Conditions

One residential structure was destroyed and 16 acres burned Saturday by a brush fire in the city of Riverside, authorities said.

It was reported at 3:24 p.m. in the 6900 block of Gaylord Avenue, said Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Jennifer McDowell.

The first engine company on the scene reported the fire was moving quickly in light vegetation towards structures, McDowell said. Multiple spot fires were reported.

A third alarm was called bringing the firefighters' numbers to 50 to help put out the flames and protect structures, she said. The flames were out at 5 p.m.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries, McDowell said.
