Firefighters Battle Pallet Fire in South LA

A fire erupted Wednesday night in a lumber yard in the unincorporated Florence-Firestone area near South Los Angeles and threatened some nearby structures.

The fire was reported about 8:15 p.m. at a business in the 9400 block of Alameda Avenue, near 94th Street, and the first units on scene discovered pallets ablaze, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Firefighters began to attack the flames, but the fire jumped the street and prompted crews to pull back in order to protect several nearby structures, the department said.

Video from the scene showed firefighters on ladders shooting water down onto the flames.

No other structures were reported damaged. No injuries were reported.
