Suspect Arrested After Huntington Park Business Goes up in Flames

A suspect was arrested Monday in connection with a fire that engulfed a business in an industrial area of Huntington Park.

Surrounding businesses were evacuated after a fire broke out at a 1-story commercial building located in the 5600 block of Soto Street shortly afer 9 a.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

Billowing clouds of black smoke could be seen for miles as about 60 firefighters rotated, fighting the blaze defensively from the outside of the building.

The business owner, who imports electronic goods, said he recently took on a large shipment as he prepared for the holiday season. Contents inside the storage facility where almost completely destroyed.

Fire crews feared the fire would spread to other warehouses and factories in the area.

Arson investigators confirmed a man was in custody to be questioned after he was seen fleeing the area of the fire. He was not immediately identified.

No injuries were reported.
