Former Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca Has Early Stages of Alzheimer's

Former Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca is in the early stages of Alzheimer's, federal officials said.

The U.S. Department of Justice confirmed the diagnosis in court documents filed Monday.

Baca served as sheriff from 1998 to 2014 when he retired.

Earlier this year -- he agreed to a plea deal in a jail abuse scandal and cover-up.

He's still facing a six-month prison sentence.
