Full Closure Announced for 5 Freeway in Norwalk

The closures will be between the San Gabriel River 605 Freeway and Norwalk Boulevard.

Full overnight closures of the Santa Ana 5 Freeway will take place next week in the Norwalk area to accommodate bridge construction, Caltrans announced.

The closures will be between the San Gabriel River 605 Freeway and Norwalk Boulevard.

On Sunday and Monday, all northbound lanes will be closed between 11:59 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next morning. Traffic will be taken off at Norwalk Boulevard.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, all southbound lanes will closed between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning.

The northbound San Gabriel River Freeway connector ramp to the southbound Santa Ana 5 Freeway will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on those days, as will the southbound San Gabriel River Freeway connector ramp to the southbound Santa Ana Freeway, according to Caltrans.

"The switch to southbound lanes may not occur until Wednesday night, depending on the progress of the work," according to a department statement that said all of the closures will end at 5 a.m. each day and all work will be completed by 5 a.m. Feb. 16.

Detours with signs will be in place and Caltrans will provide notification of any changes.
