Fullerton Power Outage Leaves Thousands in the Dark

A massive power outage hit the city of Fullerton Monday night, with nearly 14,000 customers affected initially.

Southern California Edison said that 13,902 customers were initially affected and that 12,780 customers were still without powers in Fullerton as of 10:40 p.m.

The outage was reported at 8:40 p.m. Monday and was caused by a problem at a substation near the intersection of South Harbor Boulevard and Walnut Avenue, according to SCE spokesman Paul Netter. Crews worked to restore power as quickly as possible and had rerouted power to some customers, he said.

At the height of the outage, 13,902 customers were without power, Netter said.

A total of 2,943 customers were still off-line as of 1:15 a.m.
